Date Night: Kentucky Bourbon Trail
Out in the countryside of Kentucky, roughly an hour away from Louisville, you’ll find wide-open spaces lined for miles with fences and filled with horses. Better known as horse country, the landscapes alone will have you never wanting to leave. That and the list of your favorite bourbon distilleries along the way. The Kentucky bourbon trail is exactly that, a trail of distilleries lining the area with smells of magic and a craft that isn’t known by most.
Every year we head back to Indiana to spend some time with Clayton’s family on the farm and made a detour this year to learn the history of bourbon, more specifically of Woodford Bourbon.
This amazing tradition started back in the 1700s and continues to improve today. Built in 1892 Woodford continues to create world-famous bourbon. Fermented in Cyprus wood the 51% corn made beverage is almost only made in Kentucky.
Simply standing on the grounds of this old distillery is a date night dream. The old stone buildings, the smell of fresh bourbon and spice in the air and the romantic feel of stacks on stacks of barrels lining the walls, will have you feeling the romance. Whether you go to Kentucky to experience the history of the bourbon distilleries or visit one our own backyard of Colorado, it’s a great experience to learn something new, try a few drinks, and have an evening to remember together.
