A Very COVID Engagement

There’s a lot that has changed this year. Traveling, seeing friends and family, and visiting the small businesses on the corner, all look differently. 2020 has changed the way the world looks and works and it’s taken its toll on us. The one thing that COVID and 2020 haven’t seemed to change is our ability to love. The time together stuck in quarantine has pulled some relationships apart and brought others closer together. So close, in fact, that wedding bells are still ringing and proposals are still taking our breath away. A COVID Engagement is making the most of these times.

Sarah and Cory are the perfect example of watching love triumph over this year. While they’ve been thrown some big curve balls like struggling with jobs and enduring a long distance relationship during this honeymoon stage of theirs, they have come closer together, proving the fact that love always wins.

Coming from the same home state, but not meeting until they made their way to Colorado, Sarah and Cory built their love on adventure. Days in the mountains, camping trips, travels to see new places and old places, they’ve built a life on leaning into each other. They laugh a lot and know that the sun will always come up over those hills, even when life gets hard. And it does get hard. But that’s why they have each other.

On their mountain engagement photoshoot, we explored the Fall colors of Colorado. The yellow grasses by the freezing cold rivers that told us Winter is right around the corner, and the warming rays of sun through Aspen leaves that show off exactly what a Colorado Fall is like. The two of them laughed more than I’ve ever seen a couple laugh. They walked down memory lane as they told me about getting engaged, and the friends that surrounded them on the ski hill when Cory got down on one knee and asked Sarah to spend forever with him.

It’s these moments, the ones in a beautiful landscape with love in the air that we are reminded of what matters most in life. COVID might have rocked our worlds and flipped our expectations upside down, but it also pulled back the veil to what matters most. Its helped us realign our intentions with that. Love, relationships, adventure, community. These are what we live for, and Sarah and Cory’s love is a brilliant reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is still light. There is still love.
