In the early hours of the morning, before the sun is up, before the noises of the day take shape, I head to my living room couch to read. A hot cup of tea is made, the fireplace is turned on and my puppy snuggled up next to me as we slowly start our day. These moments are my favorite time of the day. It’s the space where I can prepare for all that’s ahead, to start slow and tune in, and to catch up on a good novel or a non-fiction book educating me on whatever obsession I’m on in that season. This ritual has become integral to my morning routine and is also how I’m able to get so many books read throughout the month. This year alone I finished 48 books, which doesn’t include the books I half-read or skimmed through that didn’t stand up to my standards.
Throughout the year you’ll see trends in my reading from the times I only read fiction books in need of an escape to books themed around a new interest. Spirituality, design, business, health, and self-improvement are often subjects I dive into but the options are truly limitless. And with a library card and a kindle, there are no limits to the number of books I can find and dive into, only purchasing books that I genuinely love and know I’ll read again.
Below you’ll find my full list of books I finished in 2021. Books in bold are my utmost favorites, books in italics can be skipped. Let me know in the comments what books I should add to my 2022 list. I’m always on the hunt for something new to discover.
